We welcomed the overnight rain...

Lately, rain seems to have fallen mostly west of us, and at most we've gotten between 1/100th to 3/100th of an inch of rain at a time, which is not enough to even soak into the soil. But, last night was different. We got a whoppingly, solid inch of rain! Absolutely loverly...

Mama turkey and two babies at our feeding station

Drew shot some cute video of the baby turkeys at our feeding station.

Check out the cheeky baby who keeps displaying. That little guy's got some kind of moxie...  Enjoy!  P.S. View it "full screen" for more detail...

We've got a Monarch caterpillar

Can you see the caterpillar?
I have seen a Monarch butterfly flitting around the yard for the last couple of weeks. Then, today, as Drew was watering the Swamp Milkweed he spotted a caterpillar!
Mind you we only have two stems of the swamp milkweed which has the traditional milkweed flowers and is one of the few preferable milkweed plants to grow for Monarchs.
Drew thinks that the caterpillar is in the 3rd or 4th instar phase of development. I am going to name it Mildred!
But, who knows. The caterpillar was cupped in the leaf, a breeze was blowing and traffic was speeding by. We had a heck of a time getting usable photos.
